Over £12,000 was raised at our charity launch and everyone’s feedback made it all worthwhile. We also had over £6,000 in donations and fundraising activities which meant with over £18k in the bank THINK18 is well on it’s way to helping young adults enjoy a range of activities within a safe social environment.
It was a great night for the launch of our charity THINK18. The event was attended by over 350 people and at the heart of the event there were are young adults with learning difficulties, supported by their buddies, helping with the golden raffle prizes, selling our clothing merchandise and much more.
Our volunteers were remarkable, supporting the young adults with learning difficulties, helping with showing people to their tables and so much more.
The tables looked wonderful, each table was given a name of an activity such as Bowling, Dancing, Musical Theatre, Pub Visit … and there was plenty of food including a ‘THINK18’ cake, which accompanied coffee.
There was entertainment throughout the evening including close up magic, live singing by Bella and Emily, who have sibblings with Down Syndrome, a fundraising auction and dancing to a live local band from Petworth ‘Go Go Gadget Legs’.
Ann Kenney, director of HALOW, a charity who are helping THINK18 with safeguarding our young adults gave a heartfelt speech and Will and Aimee explained what HALOW meant to them.
The evening finally came to an end around 12.15 am, although our volunteers were feeling rather jaded we left with huge smiles and a sense of achievement.
Thank-you everyone.
