THINK18

LOOKING BACK

A great foundation for THINK18 has been established over the course of last year. Looking back on 2019 we would have liked to get activities for West Sussex up and running more quickly but our trustees reminded us that the initial structure we are putting in place is key to running a successful charity.

In December last year, we received fantastic news from the charities commission that we had our charity no. and were recognised as a charity so for 2020 we can now move forward and really put the wheels in motion.

A huge thank-you to all the support we have received last year from volunteers, parents, local authorities, fundraisers and donators.

Here are a few of our achievements throughout 2019.

THINK18

2019 ACHIEVEMENTS

1.1.19 After Rosies 18th birthday when she became a young adult in 2018 I wanted to make a difference for young adults with learning difficulties.

6.3.19 We met with Fordwater School in Chichester to talk about THINK18 and how we can work together to provide activities in West Sussex.

16.3.19 18 miles walk to raise funds for THINK18. A great bunch of supporters took part in this memorable walk raising over 2k at a fast pace.

16.4.19 The halow project (a successful community based charity in surrey) agreed to partner THINK18 to help run activities in West Sussex.

3.5.19 A crazy fundraiser, ‘Bonkers Golf Day’ playing 3 holes with kitchen utensils including rolling pins and frying pans, raising £1900 for THINK18.

15.5.19 Our range of clothing was produced to sell merchandise at future events raising funds and awareness for THINK18.

6.6.19 Summer Fundraisers organised including cake sales, Charity Football Match and a Gin Night raising over £3000 for activities for 2020.

10.6.19 We ran a Focus Group for parents and young adults to find out what the young adults with learning disabilities really want for future activities.

19.6.19 Friends pledges included swimming 18 km from Europe to Africa, conquering a fear of horses and cycling 100 miles, amazing fundraisers!

31.10.19 We ran a “Getting to know you ” event to meet parents and their young adults and introduce everyone to THINK18 and halow.

5.11.19 THINK18 received charity status and the Charity Commission confirmed our charity number. Great news!

12.11.19 We attended a transition evening at Oakgrove in Worthing to inform parents about THINK18 and encourage young adults to register.

18.11.19 Cinema Club showing ‘Rocketman’ for families, friends and young adults. Fish n chips, drinks and fun creative arts to make ‘Elton’ style glasses!

31.12.19 What a finish to the year raising £420 on a friends and supporters dog walk, a great way to catch up with friends.

OUR AMAZING VOLUNTEERS

We are very fortunate to have a great group of volunteers and without help from friends, family and our wonderful trustees THINK18 could never have achieved so much.
